PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT

Job Description:

As a Project Superintendent you will work closely with the Project Architect and construction Project Manager to effectively plan, coordinate and oversee all onsite activities. Ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven record of strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and positive subcontractor relations. Currently, WJC only operates in the Tampa Bay area, with a majority of work in St. Petersburg and Pinellas County area.

Primary Duties:

· Managing the day to day onsite construction activities in accordance to approved plans, budgets and schedules.

· Setting and enforcing safety and quality standards and directing the overall field operations. Assuring quality is of the highest standards and OSHA and all other related safety code compliance.

· Assisting the Project Manager in preparing schedules, monitor the construction schedule and constructability reviews.

· Assists in managing subcontractor relationships and soliciting bids.

· Assist the Project Manager in creating and implementing site logistics plans.

· Prepare daily reports including a record of material deliveries, subcontractor’s manpower, safety and construction issues.

· Oversee support functions including temporary utilities and toilets, trash removal, laborers, safety precautions and job site security.

· Conduct weekly jobsite meetings to address scheduling, coordination and safety issues.

Skills & Abilities

· Ability to coordinate diverse activities, set timelines, budgets and specifications.

· Ability to Read, Interpret and understand Architectural Drawings and specification documents to insure design intent is maintained.

· Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.

· Exceptional time and man management skills.

· Ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, to share, retrieve, research and present business information.

· Ability to analyze and interpret data, and to identify relevant issues in solving problems.

Job Requirements:

· 3-5 years plus of relevant commercial field superintendent experience, with project greater than $2 million in value.

· College Education Preferred

· OSHA, First Aid, CPR, Forklift, and Aerial Work Platform Training a plus

· Experience with PROCORE or relevant Construction Management Software.

CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

We have an opening for an experienced estimator. Candidate must be capable of conceptual estimating, project budgeting, bidding and plan & spec bidding.

Primary Duties:

– Complete estimates for commercial and institutional construction projects.

– Solicit bids and estimates from subcontractors and suppliers.

– Prepare cost estimates for design-build proposals.

– Responsible for developing and maintaining good client relationships.

– Schedule and run pre-bid meetings with subcontractors.

– Prepare or aid in preparation of outline specifications for design-build proposals.

– Aid in preparation of working drawings through cost evaluation and plan review of design-build proposals and projects.

– Responsible for developing and maintaining good client relationships.

– Attend pre-construction conference and pass all information and commitments to project manager.

– Review cost to date and projected cost of projects, for which estimator prepared the estimate, on a regular basis and address variances with project manager and pre-construction manager.

– Estimate change orders as requested by project manager.

– Review actual costs for completed projects.

– Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

– Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.

– Communication skills, verbal and written.

– Ability to conduct effective presentations.

– Proficiency in MS Office with emphasis on strong Excel skills.

– Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.

– Proficiency in construction estimating software.

– Proficiency in required construction technology.

– Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management.

– Knowledge of field operations through project support.

– Ability to prepare quantity surveys.

– Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.

– Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity.

– Ability to develop General Requirement estimates.

– Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.

Job Requirements:

– 5-10 years plus of relevant commercial construction estimating experience, with project greater than $2 million in value.

– College Education of at least a Bachelors.

– Experience with project management software, estimating software, and well versed in Microsoft Office.
